How to choose the right venue for your wedding in Sussex?

Choosing the perfect venue in Location for your big day may seem overwhelming, but there are key factors to help you decide:

  1. Think About the Season and Weather. Let’s be real—Sussex and UK weather can be unpredictable, but that’s not always a bad thing! A bit of rain can add a dreamy, romantic feel to your photos, clouds give us soft, flattering light and we have some pretty atmospheric backdrops. Whether you’re planning a coastal wedding in Brighton or a countryside celebration in West or East Sussex, embracing whatever the weather brings can lead to some truly magical moments.
  2. Consider Accessibility and Convenience. Making sure your venue is easy to get to (for you and your guests) is key. From boutique hotels to rustic barns, Sussex has plenty of options with great transport links and accommodation nearby. Check parking, accessibility, and guest facilities to make the day as smooth as possible for everyone.
  3. Compare Prices and Packages. Sussex has something for every budget, from stylish city venues to charming countryside barns and grand estates. When looking at venues, see what’s included—some offer catering, décor, or even on-the-day coordination, which can save you time, stress, and extra costs.
  4. Read Reviews and Testimonials. The best way to get a real feel for a venue? See what other couples have said. Google reviews, wedding blogs, and forums are full of honest insights that can help you find a venue that truly fits your vision.

By keeping these tips in mind, you’ll find the perfect wedding venue in Brighton, Horsham, or East or West Sussex that aligns with your plans and ensures an unforgettable day.

Beautiful ‘English countryside’ weddings in West & East Sussex

If you’re searching for a pretty countryside wedding venue in this stunning part of the UK, you’re in luck. From charming barns to magical redwood woodlands or grand manor houses, Sussex has something for every couple. Whether you’re dreaming of an outdoor ceremony under the trees, a relaxed celebration in a rustic setting, or a venue with breathtaking views, here are some of my favourite countryside wedding venues.

Two Woods Estate (West Sussex)

If you love nature, Two Woods Estate is pure magic. Set among towering redwood trees, this woodland venue feels like something out of a fairytale. It’s perfect for couples who want an outdoor ceremony in a truly unique setting, followed by a relaxed barn reception surrounded by nature. They also offer ceremony-only options, making it a great choice for a variety of budgets. The venue can host up to 120 guests, with space for both outdoor and indoor celebrations.

The Yoghurt Rooms (West Sussex)

For a fun, festival-style wedding, The Yoghurt Rooms is the perfect spot. This working farm-turned-wedding venue offers a rustic barn, open fields, and on-site tipi-style accommodation, giving you the freedom to create a laid-back, personal celebration with your own unique touches. It has a BEAUTIFUL wildflower field surrounding the ceremony area, perfect for sunset couples shots. It’s great for relaxed weddings with anywhere from 50 to 150 guests, with plenty of space for outdoor activities and personal styling.

Nymans (West Sussex)

If you’re after romance and history, Nymans is an absolute gem. This National Trust venue has stunning gardens, dramatic historic ruins, and breathtaking countryside views. It’s a dream setting for couples who want a mix of elegance and relaxed, natural beauty. The historic Italian Loggia, covered in blooming roses, is a showstopper—making it a photographer’s dream. Sophie and her team are amazing at keeping things running smoothly, so you can enjoy every moment. Since this is a fully outdoor venue, it’s worth considering the seasons when planning your date or having a bank of umbrellas! Nymans can host up to 100 guests, with a seated meal in the gardens. There are also options to have the ceremony only and drinks reception then moving on to you own venue.

Tottington Manor (West Sussex)

Nestled in the South Downs, just outside of lovely Henfield (where I now live!), Tottington Manor is a gorgeous country house venue with beautiful gardens and rolling hills. It’s the perfect blend of cosy and stylish, ideal for both intimate and larger celebrations. Plus, the views are incredible! The on-site hotel means your guests can stay over, making it extra convenient. Coordinator Cat is experienced and helpful, ensuring everything runs like clockwork. And the food? Absolutely delicious! A friendly, professional team that makes your wedding feel effortless. The venue caters for 30 to 100 guests, making it flexible for different wedding styles.

Chic city wedding venues in Brighton and Horsham

If you’re dreaming of a wedding in the heart of a lively city, Brighton and Horsham offer fantastic options that combine convenience with style. From historic town halls to more intimate registry offices, these venues provide a range of settings for your special day. Here are a couple of my top picks:

Brighton Town Hall (Brighton) – Up to 80 Guests

For a classic city wedding, there are lots of ‘licensed’ venues or you can get married at Brighton Town Hall before moving on to elsewhere. Brighton Town Hall offers a beautiful historic setting with multiple ceremony rooms to suit your needs.

  • The Regency Room: This is the photographers favourite – a light-filled room offers up to 46 guests and is a more elegant, slightly smaller option with plenty of character and charm.
  • The Council Chamber: A grand and formal space that can accommodate up to 80 guests, perfect for those who want a stately and traditional atmosphere.
  • The Fitzherbert Room: An intimate space with up to 10 guests, ideal for smaller ceremonies. It’s a lovely option for a personal ceremony with your closest family and friends.
  • The Flower Room: A very intimate room perfect for up to 4 guests plus you, the couple. It’s small but beautifully decorated.

Once your ceremony is over, you’ll be in the heart of Brighton, a perfect location to explore vibrant spaces for your reception.

After Your Ceremony in Brighton:

  • The Grand Hotel Brighton – A stunning Victorian hotel offering elegant ballrooms and breathtaking seafront views. I had my wedding here, and it was the perfect location to capture group shots on the beach and sneak away for couple sunset portraits. We got married here!
  • The Ivy – A stylish and sophisticated option for your reception, offering a mix of modern and classic elegance. It’s the perfect spot for couples looking for a relaxed yet refined setting, with amazing food and an iconic atmosphere.
  • The Joker – A quirky and vibrant venue offering great food and a fun, relaxed atmosphere. It’s ideal for couples wanting a more laid-back, lively reception with a creative twist.
  • i-360 – Well, it looks like a spaceship and its here to stay! Great for more modern, fun couples this venue will let your guests have a ride in the ‘pod’ then the reception and party in the venue on the seafront – amazing location and great for light and photos and right on the beach.

Horsham Registry Office (Horsham) – Up to 30 Guests

If you’re after a more intimate city vibe, Horsham Registry Office offers a charming, historic space. Set in a Grade II listed Georgian building, it’s ideal for couples looking for a smaller, more personal ceremony and to make use of the outdoor gardens rather than the bustle of the city.

  • The Drawing Room: This elegant room, filled with natural light, can comfortably host up to 30 guests. Ideal for a beautiful, intimate ceremony.
  • The Chairman’s Room: A smaller room that accommodates up to 8 guests. Perfect for couples wanting a truly intimate ceremony.

After Your Ceremony in Horsham:
